Kaffir Lime Indonesia Grill (Kingsland Farmer's Market) on Urbanspoon

It is a shame Kaffir Lime is located in the Kingsland Farmer's Market, not because the market is bad, but because the market is only open Thursday to Sunday.  Lately, we have been making it a point to shop for produce and meat at the farmer's market and enjoy lunch at Kaffir Lime.  The chef, besides being very efficient and modest, takes care in composing dishes with a fine balance of contrasting flavours with fresh and quality ingredients.  Even though it is hard to tell from the picture, the portions were very generous and definately enough to satisfy a hungry appetite.

The beef rendang has a rich and complex flavour with ginger, chilli, lemon grass, cinnamon and other numerous spices we couldn't quite put our finger on.  They all combined to create an intensely flavourful sauce that went very well with the tender braised beef.  This was plated with a delicious side of coconut rice and tart vegetable salad.  Both the rice and vegetable salad were excellent on their own. The rice was almost creamy and extremely flavourful.  The salad was both sweet and tart, a refreshing contrast to the beef.
Beef rending
The lamb rendang was similar to the beef rending in texture and flavour, however the salad was dressed  with an additional tasty peanut sauce.  The lamb we had was slightly dry, compared to the beef.  I'm not sure if this was because it was a slower day and the lamb was sitting too long in the pot.

Lamb Rendang
The chicken curry also was served with the rice and salad.  The red curry sauce was cooked with large pieces of chicken breast.  Each piece was very tender and absorbed the fresh tasting curry sauce.  This curry sauce compared to the rendang, tasted brighter and fresher.
Chicken Curry
A great deal and place to get a bite to eat at the Kingland Farmer's Market!
