...Chocolate Cake in a Mug

This recipe is for people who:

  • Enjoy baking
  • Don't enjoy baking
  • Like chocolate
  • Would like to have chocolate cake in about 5 minutes

Yes, it's true.  Chocolate cake in mug that can be prepared and ready to eat in just under 5 minutes.  This recipe I learned from my friend Christine, who posted this recipe on Facebook and immediately caught my attention.  I had to try it!  The cake is moist and tastes delicious.  Definitely satisfies that chocolate cake craving in a hurry!  The cake can be eaten directly from the mug or if you feel extra fancy plated with your favourite fruit.

Ingredients (Yields one serving)
-1 tbsp ground flax seed
-3 tbsp water
-1 3/4 tbsp flour
-1/4 tbsp baking powder
-2 tbsp brown sugar
-1 tbsp cocoa powder
-1 tbsp milk
-1 tbsp oil
-2 tbsp chocolate chips

Method

1. Add the flax seed to the water in a separate bowl and let sit for a few minutes while you work mixing up the remainder of the ingredients.

2.  In a mug, put the flour, baking powder, brown sugar, cocoa powder, milk, oil and chocolate chips together.  Add the flax seed and water mixture and mix until incorporated.  I mix until I don't see any more white flour bits.

3.  Microwave without a lid for 2.5 minutes.

An optional step is to melt the chocolate chips before incorporating it into your batter.  I find that the chocolate chips don't melt entirely, but that's not always a bad thing!

Enjoy!
